  • The Cometron 7x50 is the ideal all-round binocular
  • The large aperture and seven times magnification provide bright images at dusk and offer a steady viewing experience, and the classic Porro design makes for a very appealing price.
  • At 800 grams, it's also not too heavy to accompany you on hikes.

The Cometron 7x50 is a handy and affordable binocular that provides a bright image and a large field of view. This makes them ideal for astronomy, but of course just as good for nature observation.

This classic Porro binocular has 50mm large Lenses and seven times magnification, which provides the maximum image brightness: The beam of light that leaves the eyepiece (called the exit pupil) is seven millimeters in size - exactly the maximum your pupils can open at night. This means that no light is wasted, and you can see faint objects such as nebulae or comets clearly, as well as animals at dusk. The multi-coating ensures high transmission of the lenses and prevents annoying reflections.

During the day, when your pupils are smaller and lack of light is not a problem, you will benefit from the calm viewing behavior: Even if they tremble a bit, you won't lose sight of the image right away. No wonder 7x50 binoculars are also known as marine binoculars: They can be used even on a swaying ship!

Another advantage of the Porro design is that the Lenses are further apart than in the more expensive and elaborate roof binoculars with a narrower body: this means that spatial resolution and depth perception are better. This is particularly advantageous for nature observation. Porro binoculars can also be manufactured more cheaply than roof binoculars for the same quality, which of course is reflected in the price. If you are looking for good binoculars at a fair price, Porro binoculars are the first choice.

Thanks to the Cometron 7x50's 6.3° field of view, you can quickly survey large areas of the sky to easily find and keep an eye on your target. Whether you're looking for a target in the sky or trying to orient yourself in nature, you'll benefit from the good overview either way. The large 13mm eye relief allows for comfortable viewing.

The rubber-armored aluminum body of the Cometron 7x50 is robust and lightweight. Recessed grips for the thumbs give you a secure hold at all times. Of course, it has a thread for connecting to a tripod, so you can use it with the Celestron tripod holder for longer observations, for example. The scope of delivery includes a wide carrying strap and a bag, so you can always have it handy. Focusing is done via the large center drive, and the diopter compensation on the right eyepiece is not missing, of course.

The large eyepieces also make digiscoping, i.e. photography with a compact camera through the binoculars, easier for you. This is especially convenient if you use a camera mount like the Baader Planetarium MicroStage II (right image), which allows you to swing the camera behind the eyepiece.
