  • Speed F4.0
  • 16 lenses in 12 groups
  • Micro FourThirds standard
  • Metal bayonet mount

The LUMIX G VARIO 7-14 mm / F4.0 ASPH. adds a particularly wide-angle interchangeable lens model to the LUMIX G Micro system.

The new Micro Four Thirds lens covers all focal lengths from 7 to 14 mm (14-28 mm converted to 35 mm), so the focal length range extends from super wide-angle to light wide-angle. The astonishingly compact and lightweight Lens thus turns out to be the ideal optics for pronounced wide-angle fans; characteristic for (super) wide-angle shots are the extremely wide angle of view (here up to 114 °) and the very dynamic image effect.

Thanks to the use of high-quality large-diameter glass lenses, it has a continuous light intensity of F4.0.
The high degree of miniaturization compared to similarly wide-angle lenses is achieved on the one hand by conforming to the Micro Four Thirds standard and on the other hand by using state-of-the-art lens manufacturing techniques. Of the total of 16 lens elements (arranged in twelve lens groups) in the Lens, no less than four lenses are extremely low-dispersion ED lenses; two lenses are aspherical elements with complex lens surfaces. This guarantees, in addition to the pronounced compactness of just 8.3 cm in length (front lens to bayonet), a weight of about 300 g and at the same time the highest optical imaging performance with the lowest chromatic aberrations and distortion effects.

The quasi-circular aperture (seven-blade diaphragm design) of the LUMIX G VARIO 7-14 mm / F4.0 ASPH. produces smooth transitions in regions of the image with shallow depth of field when shooting at wide apertures. It has a robust metal bayonet and is of course fully compatible with the fast contrast AF system including the face detection function of the DMC-G1 and DMC-GH1.
