Ultra-Teleme Megazoom with a Maximum Focal Length of 400mm
The Tamron 18-400mm is the world's first lens (May 2017) for APS-C DSLR cameras to cover a focal length of 18mm to 400mm, achieving a zoom ratio of 22.2x. The focal length of 400 mm at the telephoto end enables the capture of ultra-telephoto images and corresponds to an angle of view of 620 mm at 35 mm. This megazoom is ideal for travel and everyday use. It opens up all the possibilities for the photographer from wide-angle to ultra-telephoto without having to change the Lens. The desired zoom factor can be selected easily and quickly with a slight turn of the zoom ring.

Excellent image quality
The optical design consists of 16 lens elements in 11 groups. The use of special glass elements such as LD (low dispersion) and aspherical lens elements effectively minimize aberrations, including chromatic aberration and distortion, ensuring excellent image quality. Optimal power distribution between lens groups achieves high optical performance and compact size. With a maximum magnification of 1:2.9, this Lens makes it even easier to get up close and personal with exciting details.

Lightweight and Compact Design - Tamron's Megazoom Philosophy
Although the Lens achieves a revolutionary zoom range of 18 to 400mm, it is still lightweight and compactly built with an overall maximum length of 123.9mm and a weight of less than 710g. A new three-stage lens barrel design has been developed to provide the necessary extension for the 22.2x zoom ratio. Thanks to Tamron's Megazoom philosophy, every photographer gets the opportunity to be ready for a wide range of photographic tasks with this compact Lens.

HLD motor provides high-precision AF and enables compact lens design
The AF drive system uses Tamron's exclusive HLD (High/Low torque modulated Drive) motor. The energy-saving HLD motor generates excellent drive torque to enable precise and smooth focusing. The HLD motor takes up less space due to its small size and arc shape, allowing the Lens to be designed to be even more compact.

Sharper images thanks to VC (Vibration Compensation)
Tamron's proven VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilizer ensures sharp, blur-free images in this Lens. This means that the long telephoto focal length can also be used perfectly for handheld shots.

Electromagnetic iris
The model variant with Nikon mount is now equipped with an electromagnetically controlled iris unit. This allows even more precise exposure, as the aperture blades open and close very precisely. This function was already integrated as standard on models with a Canon mount.
This function is only available on certain Nikon digital SLR cameras. Please ask us if this function can also be used with your camera

Weatherproof design
The body of the 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD is protected against splash water and dust ingress with special seals at all critical points. The Lens can also be used in humid environments.

Compatible with Tamron TAP-in Console, optionally available
Tamron's TAP-in Console allows the zoom lens to be customized to the photographer's individual needs. A software application and USB connection to the computer can be used to update firmware and adjust autofocus and image stabilization.
