Tokina thus redefines the combination of IR and ND filters
Most of today's cinema cameras are equipped with neither a low-pass filter nor an IR cut filter. The cameras primarily imitate what a human eye would see in order to get as much image data as possible onto the sensor.

The more light-sensitive film cameras become, the more important strong ND filters become.
However, this increases infrared contamination, which has a negative effect on the image result. It is therefore advisable to use an IRND filter. However, the use of such a filter can also lead to undesirable side effects. Not every IRND filter necessarily ensures neutral image results. A neutral result, without color shifts, can only be achieved with a relatively large amount of effort by adjusting the white balance. Or the new Tokina Pro IRND filter finds its way in front of the Lens.

Precise results without color shifts
Kenko Tokina has always stood for innovation and has now developed the Accu-ND coating process. This enables Kenko Tokina to create a combined neutral density infrared filter that allows the incoming light to be perfectly controlled without affecting the color results. This ensures stable color reproduction without infrared contamination and color shifts.

In addition to the screw-in filter version, the Kenko Tokina PRO IRND filter is also available as a square or rectangular filter disc. While the screw-in filter version is coated on both sides with the special ND coating, the ND coating is applied between two filter discs in the square version. This allows the filters to be polished without losing the quality of the IRND coating.

There are generally two different manufacturing processes for IRND filters.
One version cuts off all light, starting from a near-infrared wavelength. The other version can be described more as "controlling", as these filters suppress infrared pollution. Both the cutting off of certain wavelengths and the suppression of light pollution are very effective. If a certain part of the light spectrum is cut off at a certain wavelength, this usually causes undesirable color shifts. Kenko Tokina has therefore looked for a way to ensure correct color reproduction and has refined the suppressive filter solution.
